Femininity and the Moon cycle

The fact that the length of the menstrual cycle is comparable with the length of traveling of the Moon around the Earth has been a source of inspiration and fascination for many cultures. For this very reason we feel that there is an inseparable relationship between the Moon and femininity. In the old countries of Europe the Moon was represented by three female characters: virgin-priestess (New Moon), woman-mother (pregnant) (Full Moon) and wise old woman (Old Moon). A month was also equal to the Moon cycle in many ancient calendars – this is how the word “monthlies” originates.

The Moon cycle is related with women’s natural rhythm of fertility. Czech psychiatrist Eugeniusz Jonas discovered that every woman has her own individual fertility cycle, beside the menstrual one. This fertility cycle is connected with a phase of the Moon during a day of a woman’s birth. Dr Jonas research enables us to specify days of woman’s life that are particularly good for becoming pregnant and also those that allow us to protect from unwanted conception.
