Personal hygiene is particularly important during period. Remember to change pads or tampons at proper frequency, so the passed moisture does not have too long contact with your skin. It is also important to often wash your intimate areas, at least twice a day. Instead of soap use special lotions that do not contain preservatives and fragrances. They have pH adequate for acid environment of vagina and therefore they do not deteriorate its natural protective barriers. Such safe intimate cleaners will surely let you avoid red marks, burning or itching. In cases when you don’t have an opportunity to clean – at work or when traveling, it is worth to have wipes for feminine hygiene.
If you use tampons, observe the basic rules of hygiene: change them at least every 4-6 hours, adjust the size to intensiveness of your flow and wash your hands before every application. Improper usage of this type of protection may cause a toxic shock syndrome. It is very rare, though when you don’t feel well after application of a tampon (you have fever, nausea, shivers) remove it and visit a doctor.
